The untold story behind that Thanksgiving Day parade.

Who doesn't remember watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade with the humongous balloons – concluding with the “man” himself, Santa Claus?  The pageantry, the music and the incredible floats made for a fun and entertaining morning, followed by a day revolving around food and football.  Historically, Macy's was made famous in part by the hit movie “Miracle on 34th Street” and is often a trade name mentioned in Hollywood TV shows, including many that contain content often offensive to those of us with traditional family values.

At one time, Macy's even held claim to "largest retail store" in the world.  With this kind of notoriety, the retail giant would never need to embrace an immoral social agenda to attract customers, right?  Wrong!

Not only does Macy’s embrace an immoral social agenda, they actively promote and encourage abhorrent behaviors and lifestyles.  With a ranking of a negative 10 out of 10 in sponsoring immoral TV programming, to a long and extensive list of support for the homosexual agenda, to the corporate funding of abortions, Macy's feels the need to support almost everything that pro-family advocates find offensive. (See right column under Pollutants).

As a result, when we innocently sit down on Thanksgiving morning to watch the parade and eventually shop at any of their stores, we too are indirectly supporting and funding these destructive behaviors!

What causes a company with over 150 years of history feel the need to support such an agenda?  What makes a company that espouses service to families also embrace and promote behaviors that destroy families.  Is it sales or greed?  Or, is it an immoral ideology that has crept into the deepest hearts of upper management?  We may never know that answer for sure, but we do have the ability and responsibility to avoid funding this corruption.

This Thanksgiving and, yes, even Christmas consider avoiding shopping or supporting any and all of Macy's products or services.  It may not cause them to change their behavior, however if we remain neutral in this culture war, and do nothing, our country and the biblical morality from which it was founded will definitely continue to deteriorate.
